Best DVC Resort for Families

Old Key West has the largest standard villas anywhere in DVC — roomy enough that families consistently choose it over resorts with flashier theming just for the extra square footage. It's also one of the more affordable Walt Disney World resorts to buy into, with resale contracts available in both a 2042 and an extended 2057 expiration.

For families who want on-site theming built around kids — think savanna views and bunk-bed suites — Animal Kingdom Villas is the strongest pick, with dedicated family suites that sleep more guests than a standard studio or 1-bedroom elsewhere. Saratoga Springs is the other strong family value option, thanks to its sheer size and lower buy-in.

Best DVC Resort for Beach Access

At Walt Disney World, Beach Club Villas is the pick — it's the only DVC resort with direct access to Stormalong Bay, widely considered the best resort pool complex on Disney property, plus a short walk to EPCOT's International Gateway.

For an actual ocean, DVC has two dedicated beach resorts outside the parks: Hilton Head Island in South Carolina and Vero Beach on Florida's Atlantic coast, plus Aulani in Hawaii for a full resort-and-parks-free vacation. All three work well as a non-parks trip on the same points you'd otherwise spend at Walt Disney World.

Best DVC Resort for a Long Contract

If you want decades of runway without worrying about a resale restriction, Copper Creek Villas at Wilderness Lodge is the strongest pick: its contract runs through 2068, and because it opened before Disney's 2019 resale-restriction cutoff, resale buyers can use those points at any of the other DVC resorts, not just Copper Creek itself.

Disneyland only has two DVC resorts, and they serve different budgets. Grand Californian has a direct entrance into Disney California Adventure and commands the highest resale price of any DVC resort at around $240/pt — you're paying a real premium for the location. Disneyland Hotel is the more affordable of the two at roughly $192/pt resale, with family-friendly theming and a short walk to both parks, but it's also resale-restricted — resale points there can only be used at Disneyland Hotel itself.
